Raised Beds

sPark It is all about transforming spaces – making people think about the possibilities all around them in the public realm. Our planter was completed in 3 days, made out of salvaged wood and bricks. After the initial work to build the structure, the community donated money to purchase the soil and the plants. A few months later, and those plants are thriving, and becoming a regular stop for bees and other pollinators.

While this installation was to bring new life to a neglected ‘blank’ space, planters such as this could easily also be used as modal filters to stop rat-running. We are also looking at designing special narrow versions which we could install on kerbsides to combat pavement parking.

Our hope is that this will be a catalyst for the wider area, inspiring residents to continue transforming their streets into something greener, happier and more full of joy and imagination.
